  :: Free Credit Report

---------------------------------------------------------------
Summary
The government passed a law that allows ALL consumers to access their credit report for free once a year. You have to go through the website called AnnualCreditReport.com and it will walk you through each of the 3 main credit bureaus (Experian, Equifax and TransUnion). Make sure to note that the free credit report does NOT include any credit scores.

Details of Free Credit Reports
You can get a free credit report once a year, or if you ever apply for credit and are turned down. The lender who denies you the loan and/or credit card you applied for is required by law to tell you which credit bureau provided the data. Contact that bureau to receive a free credit report.

There are other sites that claim to give you free credit reports. Here is a good comparison of all the sites on Wikipedia and the free credit reports they provide: Comparison of free credit reports (Wikipedia).

You can receive a free credit report once a year, but the free credit report will not include your credit scores.
